Certainly, all sportsmen and women do not have to repeat their exercise the following day but recovering well allows them to restore their bodily integrity as rapidly as possible and so allows them to resume their activity quickly under good conditions. Recovery is an essential phase in a sportsman's or woman's development, whether amateur or professional. As soon as exercise is finished, you must take small sips of an isotonic carbohydrate drink rich in electrolytes: drunk at ambient temperature, it will promote rehydration of the body and restoration of glycogen and electrolyte reserves (especially Na). Then, to facilitate muscular reconstruction, it is also helpful to take in some protein as soon as the exercise is finished. We can also recommend taking antioxidants, vitamins and minerals to combat oxidant stress that can result from prolonged and/or intense exercise.
