A sportsman's or woman's diet before exercise or a competition is one of the key performance factors: a bad diet can cause hypoglycaemia, dehydration, digestive upsets and so poor performance. Whether preparing for a marathon, a triathlon, trail running, a cycle or mountain bike race or any other endurance exercise, before exercise, the body must be prepared in order to have the energy and hydration necessary to be at the top of your abilities on race or competition day. Do not wait until the day of the event to build up your reserves of glycogen and water. 3 days before the event you can start to establish a nutritional strategy. Whatever the products consumed or the nutritional strategy established, it is essential to test it during training sessions and not wait for the day of the competition to try it.
